Do you know a local spot that could use a splash of street art? Looking to spotlight your small business? Nominate a business for a free mural.

As an artist, I am committed to helping to make art accessible. As a Kentuckian, I love to see my hometown of Henderson, Kentucky flourish. Last year I set a goal to paint a mural, and now Iā€™m setting a goal to create an opportunity to highlight a local business with public art.

I was inspired to open up the conversation about a free mural for multiple reasons. First, I wanted to be able to educate the public about the benefits of public art, and second, was to measure the desire for more public art - to continue the local public art movement. The goal was to provide an opportunity to spotlight small business owners or local business owners and potentially bring more foot traffic to their storefront, or to downtown in general. Being a small business owner is a huge commitment, and investment in our community, and I think this is a great way to applaud them.

For me, designing and painting murals is the easy part, finding an available wall is the tricky part! I want to encourage anyone to nominate a small business, or a business can nominate themselves (no judgement!). I hope to see more mural art in Henderson in the very near future!
